Anti-climatic. This pretty much sums it up. I’m not sure what I was expecting from this film, from the entire series, but it wasn’t this.
The only film I’ve liked so far is Catching fire which got me excited for the next two, but my hopes for them were dashed.
The actions scenes, when we’ve finally finished re-hashing over what happened in the last films, start brilliantly, but peter out almost immediately.
Jennifer Lawrence is stunning again, but, by now, I’m fed up to the back teeth of Katniss. All the focus is on here which I think is a mistake. I think it would’ve been better to have a wider view of the goings on over the last three films and it takes away from the bigger story. Because this film has a bigger message which doesn’t have a good impact because of this.
A lot of things happen off screen and Katniss has a really passive role, watching and reacting, to these things. You know that moment when the hero finally steps up and does what is needed? That never happens. I don’t understand why the focus is so much on here when she doesn’t do much.
Maybe that’s how things would happen realistically, but this is a film too and it left me unsatisfied. There are many scenes that are supposed to fueled with emotion, but I think I was moved once and that was only due to Jennifer Lawrence’s stunning performance.
On the whole, this film series wasn’t worth watching.
To sum up, Jennifer Lawrence still amazing, no emotional impact, too narrow focus
Was it worth the watch? No
Would I re-watch? No
