The last witch hunter film review

UK release date: 21/10/15

Runtime: 106 minutes

Directed by: Breck Eisner

Starring: Vin Diesel, Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, Michael Caine

It starts promising, if a little chaotic and confusing, (please stop shaking the camera to insinuate action.)

Unfortunately the fog of confusion is replaced with boredom. I feel like they decided to put every half baked, (and most of the time cliché), plot idea in it. They should’ve settled for one strong idea and gone with it. They tried to infuse it with humour on occasion and I think that was a mistake. It didn’t fit and made you pull a face, (at least I did.)

I think this role was a bad fit for Vin Diesel, pretty bad when the film is basically him all the time. He pretty OP too. (Over powered). His emotions were dull and he had no connection with his co stars.

I don’t think I liked any of the actors in this. In fact, I pretty much ended up rooting for the bad guys.

All of the plot twists, which they left no clues for so were a surprise in a bad way, were revealed right at the end. And, to be honest, I didn’t care.

The climax was lasted about ten minutes and was pretty disappointing. I just don’t under why the bad guy did the bad things, (trying not to spoil!). It’s poor character development.

The only good thing in this film was the special effects.

Dad’s opinion: He spent the first half hour asleep, (which means you know he’s finding it boring), and the rest of the time he felt confused by what was actually going on. He would give it 3/10. (And he says he’s being generous.)

To sum up, bad choice of actors, poor plot, too many ideas squeezed in

Was it worth the watch? No

Would I re-watch? No
