Horror week! Saw film review

This is our tenth and final film for horror week!

UK release date: 1/10/04

Runtime: 103 minutes

Directed by: James Wan

Starring: Cary Elwes, Danny Glover, Monica Potter, Michael Emerson, Ken Leung, Tobin Bell, Leigh Whannell

Not only is the opening scene frightening, but so is the starting screen on the DVD! Thanks for that I was not prepared for it.

You’re as frightened and confused as the characters and merely along for the ride as they figure out what’s happening.

Some of the characters are there for the sake of helping the plot and are quickly forgotten as soon as they’re off screen.

Leigh Whannell who plays Adam was my favourite and most memorable character.

The plot is crazily scary and unique. It’s so simple, yet so complex, a real puzzle, much like a jigsaw…Pffffttt.

There is a great twist in there that is a complete surprise, (except, apparently, my dad, who said and I quote, “Well, I suspected that.” Course, you did, Dad.)

The last half hour of this film will have watching through your fingers, unable to tear your eyes away even if you’ve seen it before. That ending has ruined me.

To sum up, original plot, great characters, frightening and brutal scenes

Was it worth the watch? Yes

Would I re-watch? Yes

Stars: 4/6
